Joey Povinelli was born as the son of a knife sharpener in Cave Creek, Arizona.
He matriculated in New York, at Marymount Manhattan College, and currently resides in Los Angeles.
Joey is the co-founder of a production company, jpeg Productions, that creates work in film and theatre. In October 2019, jpeg premiered its first play, Watching Paint Dry, written and directed by Joey. Their aptly titled short film, jpeg Short 2 was a winner in the inaugural From a Distance Film Festival.
He’s also self-produced two web series’ (The Brooklyn Cycle and Arturo Edwards) along with numerous video sketches.
His primary focus of late has been authoring reviews and directing an upcoming production of his play, Watching Paint Dry.
